POA & Guardian Filing
(Professional)
Federal and state tax compliance for the individuals in your care — separate matter files, proper IRS authorization, coordinated across your full caseload.
How we work with professional fiduciaries
We handle annual tax filings for each individual under your POA or guardianship authority as a separate matter — intake through the portal, Form 2848 filed with the IRS for each client, returns prepared and filed on your schedule. You stay informed at key milestones. We handle the IRS directly.
What we cover
- Annual federal and state returns for each individual under your authority
- IRS authorization (Form 2848) filed per client
- Retirement income: RMDs, pension distributions, Social Security, inherited IRAs
- Prior year catch-up for clients whose returns weren't being filed before your appointment
- IRS and state notice response
- Multi-state filing obligations where applicable
Multi-client coordination
Each client is a separate matter in our portal — separate document sets, separate status, no crossed wires. When you have multiple POA clients at different stages of the calendar, we track each independently.
Transition to estate work
When a client passes away, the engagement transitions from individual annual filing to estate administration — the final 1040, Form 1041, and any 706 or 709 obligations, all coordinated under the same engagement structure.
What we need to open a matter
- Copy of the POA or court order establishing authority
- Individual's SSN and date of birth
- Prior year returns if available
- Income documents for the year
- Any pending IRS or state notices
